With most patients experiencing at least one exacerbation per year, and severe cases seeing 3-4 episodes annually, the burden leads to 894,000 COPD hospitalizations yearly in Europe. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Currently, there&#8217;s a lack of easy-to-use, biomarker-based remote monitoring, resulting in delayed medical intervention. An urgent need exists for a rapid, non-invasive, and accurate predictive tool for at-home monitoring to enable timely personalized interventions and reduce hospitalizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of the COPDetect consortium is to develop an Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enhanced breathalyser for at-home monitoring of COPD patients to predict sudden worsening of symptoms, known as exacerbations, on time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click <a href=\"https:\/\/www.roboptics.pt\/wp-media\/poster-copdetect.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">here<\/a> for the <em>project fiche<\/em> (in portuguese).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Portuguese:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As exacerba\u00e7\u00f5es da Doen\u00e7a Pulmonar Obstrutiva Cr\u00f3nica (DPOC), caracterizadas por dificuldades respirat\u00f3rias graves, duplicam a taxa de decl\u00ednio da fun\u00e7\u00e3o pulmonar e aumentam o risco de mortalidade a 5 anos em 61%.
